French German Irish Scottish and Scottish heritage. Her family operated the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery established in 1847 in Erie Pennsylvania where her grandfather John Martin Magenau Jr. was the President and CEO before its demise in 1978. Jacobs began studying acting at age of eight and attended Saturday classes in Pittsburgh Playhouse. Mt. Lebanon High School in the year 2000, Jacobs relocated into New York City New York to study at the Juilliard School where she was an active member in the drama division's group 33. In 2004, she earned an undergraduate degree.
